The shortcut pop-up menu in the sign-on dialog box is a convenient way to specify frequently used host machines. The menu comes pre-configured with a few common destinations, but you can customize it to include others and/or to include your own name and password. The Edit Shortcuts... command in the Customize menu brings up a list of the current shortcuts with buttons for creating new shortcuts, changing existing ones, and removing ones that are no longer wanted. The changes you make will be saved to the Fetch Preferences file, and so will be available whenever you run Fetch from that machine. The shortcut marked with a checkmark is special -- it is the “default” shortcut and will be chosen automatically the first time you open a connection. To change the default shortcut, select another shortcut and press the Make Default button.
To quickly add a single shortcut to the end of the shortcut list you can choose the Add Shortcut... command in the Customize menu.
The shortcut editing dialog box supports “smart paste” of Universal Resource Locators (URLs). If you paste a URL it will be broken into parts and the parts placed in the appropriate fields. See the “Universal Resource Locators” topic for more information on URLs.
NOTE: If you save a password as part of a shortcut that password will be no more secure than the disk it is saved on. Be certain that others do not have access to your system disk before saving a shortcut that includes a password.
